Exhibiting Artist: Latifah A Stranack

Latifah A Stranack is an Anglo-Omani artist based in London. She has an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art and an MFA from the Slade, UCL. Being multicultural, she is passionate about creating a dialogue with the viewer that promotes tolerance, understanding and harmony between genders and cultures. She communicates this through the subjects she explores in her drawings, paintings, mixed-media installations, and animations.

Her practice investigates the delicate boundaries of belonging, censorship, desire, and memory. Since graduating, she has used the edenic theme to reflect upon her identity and mixed heritage. She creates her culturally hybrid worlds using archival imagery, mythology, historical art references, fashion magazines, and photos of her body or people she knows. She paints using a mixed media technique of spray paint, acrylic, oil, and pigment sticks on paper and canvas to express female empowerment, sisterhood and intuition.
